SOUTH DAKOTA UNITED FC INAUGURAL MEMBER OF THE FPL!

The first club to commit to playing in the 2021 season of the Frontier Premier League (FPL) is South Dakota United FC. The club is based in the capital city of South Dakota, Pierre. Founded in 2003, Coach Chris Derry was the driving force to establish the Frontier Premier League to continue offering his players and others in the Dakotas an opportunity to further their playing careers. Assistant Coach Matt DeBoer will be helping SDU in the inaugural year of the FPL. The home venue for SDU will be in Pierre and will be announced at a later date.

Coach Derry comments, "I am excited for this next level of play for not only our kids with South Dakota United but also the kids from the rest of the Dakotas as well. There are a lot of kids here who love playing soccer and being able to give them one more opportunity to play brings them that much closer to what kids in other states already have. This has been a dream of mine for many years and to see it starting to come true is mind-blowing! I am excited to work not only with our other member clubs to bring the level of soccer up here in the Dakota's but also with the APA, who is helping others like me, all over the country get their leagues off the ground! Now, we are ready to start the next step in our growth and offer a U23 format for our players here and see where it can take them, hopefully, the US Open Cup! We are excited and ready to go!"

SDU was the first club in South Dakota to send teams to the National Tournament for a chance to win a National Championship, which they were the first club in South Dakota to have a team win a National Championship (US Club 2013, SDU Barcelona). The club has also sent six teams to the National Championships in either US Club and/or US Youth, which is more than anyone else in the Dakotas.

About South Dakota United FC

South Dakota United was founded in 2003. SDU was started so that it could help small-town players and families who wanted to compete on a regional and national level get there and have a chance to do just that. Through the years, the one common thread of SDU has been its core belief that family is first and everything else is secondary.

About the FPL

Our passion is to grow the game and to promote a thriving soccer culture. Clubs, Communities, and Players will have exclusive access to creating this platform. The Frontier Premier League (FPL) is for those who want to keep playing after they have aged out of their youth clubs.

The FPL is affiliated with the American Premier Alliance (APA). The APA provides a platform for players and clubs to continue playing in an affordable and competitive soccer league. This is the exclusive U23 adult amateur league sanctioned by US Club Soccer, which provides access to competing in the Lamar Hunt US Open Cup, the nation's longest-running tournament.

About US Club Soccer

US Club Soccer will foster the growth and development of soccer clubs throughout the United States to create the best possible development environment for players of all ages in every club.
